Re-centering Word & Sacrament
Constant Communion is an initiative to help churches grow towards weekly celebration of communion.
Why?
We move toward weekly communion because the Table is not merely a memorial or an optional addition to worship; it is the historic, evangelical-sacramental center of our identity as a people who feed on Christ. By centering our weekly gathering around the bread and cup, we intentionally step out of a consumerist, sermon-centric model and into a formational rhythm where the entire service itself preaches the Gospel, forms our hearts, and anchors our identity in the finished work of Jesus.
How?
Transitioning to weekly communion requires a shift in both theology and logistics, moving away from viewing the Eucharist as a “special event” and toward embracing it as a standard means of grace. This begins by catechizing yourself and then the congregation. In addressing the common fear that “if we do it every week, it will become less special”—and replacing it with the beauty of a habit that grows deeper in meaning through repetition. We integrate this by simplifying our sacramental rubrics, training our leadership in a high view of the elements, and ensuring that our Eucharistic practice is consistently tethered to our commitment to holiness and mission.
